Create Your First Holiday Type and Holiday Group

Create holiday types such as annual holiday and sick leave, bundle them into a Holiday Group, and prepare them for employee assignment.

After attendance, the thing employees care about most is holidays. In FLEXPEO you first define the Holiday types you offer (annual holiday, sick leave, etc.), then bundle them into a Holiday Group that you can assign to employees.

Step 1: Create your first Holiday type

  1. Go to settings: after signing in, open Vacation > Holiday List (/vacation/vacationList).
  2. Add a Holiday: click the +Add button in the top right.
  3. Fill in the basics:
    • Choose your employer.
    • Holiday name: enter "Annual Holiday".
  4. Pick the Holiday category (key step):
    • Custom Holiday: use this for holidays that employees need to apply for, such as annual holiday, sick leave, or personal leave.
    • Public and Statutory Holiday: use this for public or statutory holiday records.
  5. Set entitlement and calculation rules:
    • Fields marked * are required.
    • You can grant annual leave automatically based on years of service, or as a fixed number of days per year.
    • You can also set the validity period (e.g. whether unused days roll over to the next year).
  6. Save: click Save.

Step 2: Create your first Holiday Group

Once the Holiday type exists, add it to a policy bundle so you can assign it to multiple employees together.

  1. Go to settings: open Vacation > Holiday Group (/vacation/vacationGroup).
  2. Add a Holiday Group: click the +Add button in the top right.
  3. Name it:
    • Give the group a clear name (e.g. "Full-time Employee Holiday Group" or "Management Holiday Group").
  4. Add Holiday types (key step):
    • Choose your employer.
    • In the settings page, tick Annual Holiday from the existing Holiday types.
    • If you've already created sick leave or public holidays, tick those too.
    • Fields marked * are required.
  5. Save: click Save.

Friction-Killer tip: If this is your first time, build a basic "Full-time Employee Holiday Group" with annual, sick, and public holidays. Once you are comfortable, add separate groups for part-time or contract employees.
